Viareggio’s oldest Hotel called La Locanda de Russie too
The history of this structure began in 1871 as the first Hotel in Viareggio
The Building overlooked one of the largest squares and the promenade
which today is identified in the Hotel Plaza de Russie
The elegant bulding hosted Rilke and Giacomo Puccini but also was the refuge
for the Russians who fled by the Tsarist police and for those who later fled from
October Revolution as aristocrats
Viareggio ‘ s Oldest Hotel de Russie is part of an established Liberty route
with multiple buildings inspired by Art Nouveau
