Every year in April or May Massarosa celebrates the Fiera del Carmine also known as the agro – livestock<\/p>\n\n\n\n

fair due to the area’s roots in the land animals flowers and agriculture<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Activities : Exhibition featuring animals rabbits donkeys horses agricultural machinery fruit trees aromatic plants typical local products and food wine stands<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore activities will include shows chidren’s entertainment talks and fashion shows<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There will also be food and agricultural producers<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tradition of the Fiera del Carmine in Massarosa is a fascinating example of how religious and rural history have merged, giving rise to what is now considered Versilia’s true !Spring Festival”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Altough it currently takes place in April its roots are closely linked to Marian devotion and the area’s rural past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flavours Fair in Massarosa Religious Origins : The Confraternity of carmine<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The so-called Fiera del Carmine derives from the Confraternity of Carmine founded in Massarosa in the 16th century by this religious congregation<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The venue was the parish church with the adoration of madonna del Carmelo where the religious festival and related market were held on july 16th<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The festivals was moved to April because the spring fais is a time for trading agricultural products and livestock before the arrival of summer and the agricultural season<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second season was the summer heat during the month of July when farmers were busy harvesting<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Essentially, Massarosa Fair aims to preserve its agricultural origins and its scio-economic traditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
