It began with the Dominican friars who took an interest in the botany of the Oltrarno district and created remedies that would become beauty elixirs in honor of Queen Catherine de’ Medici. They crafted “L’Acqua della Regina ” for her wedding – a fragrance featuring citrus and bergamot notes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the time cam for our Catherine de’ Medici to travel to Paris, she too her parfumer, Renato the Florentine, along with her<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She feared the french might steal the secrets of her essences. Florence allowed France to embrace these secrets and the passion for perfume grew into a major global industry. It was renato – brought to the Parisian court – who introduced French high perfumery and gave rise to the Grasse region, where perfumes zare still produced today<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Iris – stylized as the lily – has become the symbol of Florence. Like any great love it requiries time ; indeed this flower needs thre years of maturation in the dark<\/p>\n\n\n\n
