Every year in April or May Massarosa celebrates the Fiera del Carmine also known as the agro – livestock
fair due to the area’s roots in the land animals flowers and agriculture
Activities : Exhibition featuring animals rabbits donkeys horses agricultural machinery fruit trees aromatic plants typical local products and food wine stands
Furthermore activities will include shows chidren’s entertainment talks and fashion shows
There will also be food and agricultural producers

Altough it currently takes place in April its roots are closely linked to Marian devotion and the area’s rural past.
Flavours Fair in Massarosa Religious Origins : The Confraternity of carmine
The so-called Fiera del Carmine derives from the Confraternity of Carmine founded in Massarosa in the 16th century by this religious congregation
The venue was the parish church with the adoration of madonna del Carmelo where the religious festival and related market were held on july 16th
The festivals was moved to April because the spring fais is a time for trading agricultural products and livestock before the arrival of summer and the agricultural season
The second season was the summer heat during the month of July when farmers were busy harvesting
Essentially, Massarosa Fair aims to preserve its agricultural origins and its scio-economic traditions.
